Adding the TechInfo Doctype to

Add the TechInfo DITA Specialization as a new document type.

Arbortext Editor® users may want to add content to that uses the TechInfo Doctype, which is a DITA specialization.

Packaging up the Document Type

  1. Navigate to the following path in your Arbortext® install tree: C:\Program Files\PTC\ArbortextEditor\application\com.ptc.arbortext.techinfo\doctypesor C:\Program Files (x86)\PTC\ArbortextEditor\application\com.ptc.arbortext.techinfo\doctypes, depending on if you have a 64 or 32-bit installation.

  2. Copy the techinfo and techinfomap folders to another location, such as your Desktop. You can delete all files EXCEPT for the XML Schema (*.xsd) files and the catalog files.

    Afterwards, the folders should look like the following:

  3. Zip up/compress techinfo and techinfomap as separate *.zip files.

    Note: For the ideal setup, zip up the files inside the techinfo and techinfomap

Adding the techinfo Topic Document Type

  1. Click the New... button in the header of one of the sections in your Document Types list.

  2. Enter techinfo for the name and base it on DITA 1.2 Topic. If you want to share the document type with an organization, select the organization from the Owner dropdown.

  3. Open the new techinfo document type and upload the techinfo.zip file.

Adding the techinfomap Document Type

  1. Click the New... button in the same header of your Document Types list.

  2. Enter techinfomap for the name and base it on DITA 1.2 Map. Make sure to select the same Owner that you used in the New document type dialog for techinfo.

  3. Open the new techinfo Doctype and upload the techinfomap.zip file.

Add the techinfomap to techinfo Catalog Reference

  1. Select the top-level TechInfoMap project folder and click the XML Document Types tab and click the Add Document Types button.

  2. Select TechInfo and click OK.

    Note: Without this last step, the TechInfoMap schema would fail to compile, because it references files in TechInfo in a catalog entry.
